Oohs, aahs and wows will resound from thousands of throats. That is more or less guaranteed when a crowd gathers along the Mar Menor on 15 June 2025. That day it will once again be time for the acrobatic stunts and flyovers of some of the best military stunt pilots in the world.
This year, the spectacle along the coast of Santiago de la Ribera and San Javier promises to be even more dazzling than usual.
Under the title Aire 25, the 40th anniversary of the Patrulla Aguila will be celebrated. This corps of stunt pilots is considered one of the best in the world.
The military airshows are probably the most visited events in the region. Last year, some 300,000 visitors marvelled at the aerial acrobatics of the many national and international aircraft. In view of the anniversary year and the promise that the quality of aerial performances will be better and more impressive than ever before, the organisers are expecting a crowd of half a million people.
Most enthusiasts will gather on El Pescador beach in Santiago de Ribera. But the breathtaking stunts of formation flying, daring loops, exciting turns and colourful smoke trails can be admired from all over the two-kilometre-long coastline.
The exact programme has not yet been announced, but flight teams from Switzerland, France and a Spanish helicopter group have already been confirmed as participants.
Last year, San Javier held a three-day event. The sensational stunts were mainly performed by civilian pilots. The sensational main programme was then accompanied by training exercises provided by pilots, air simulations and a market where unique aviation memorabilia was sold.
Several of these side activities return to Aire 25. This festival starts on 14 June and continues the day after with the once again stunning manoeuvres of some of the best stunt pilots in the world.
Another warning: parking will be difficult due to the expected crowds on the final day. That is also why there are organized bus tours, which leave from La Marina and have various pick-up points on the way to San Javier.
