Dutch people who are in Spain on King's Day do not have to completely miss out on the usual festivities that are celebrated at home. The many tens of thousands of Dutch people who have settled permanently in Spain and all those others who are on holiday there on 27 April can fully immerse themselves in the orange-tinted festivities, especially in Benijofar.
The town near the large Quesada urbanisation has built up a good reputation in that regard over the years. Even from Benidorm, buses full of Dutch people come to Benijofar on the holiday. There is a tent party all day from 9:00 am. The refreshments are completely in style with, among other things: stroopwafels, oliebollen, chips and herring.
In Benijofar there is a free market, performances and attractions for the younger orange-goers.
The Dutch association of Torrevieja has been holding a King's Ball for years. Since 2023, this has been held in The Emerald Isle on the Orihuela Costa. The members traditionally dress in an orange outfit. With finger food on the table and Dutch music, an atmosphere is created where the party quickly ends up on the dance floor.
In Benidorm, rastro El Cisne has Dutch stalls and music from the home country that day. In Javea, there is always a Dutch flea market with live music.
Other cities and villages that celebrate the king's birthday with festivities are Moreira, Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Malaga, Torremolinos and Marbella.
