Sports and adventure activities for the whole family. That is what the Lo Rufete park, in the rural area between Torremendo and San Miguel de Salinas, wants to offer. Without the pretensions of large theme parks with the most advanced attractions, Lo Rufete opts for old-fashioned and simple entertainment. And it works. The small-scale no frills park has a wide range of straightforward activities on offer, which have stood the test of time.

What can visitors expect? Very popular are the quad bike tours, for example. A trip around the idyllic embalse de la Pedrera reservoir can be undertaken in the immediate vicinity. Those who want to take it a bit more careful can give their quad skills a try on a special terrain.

The reservoir is also the setting for groups wishing to ride horses in a pleasant natural environment. Also for this activity there is an area in the park where this sport can be practiced. At another place in the park, 15,000 m² has been reserved for paintball shootings where the adrenaline level can be boosted considerably. For a shorter adrenaline injection, you can then zip down with a zip line.

Those more inclined to practice traditional sports can choose from beach volleyball, badminton, archery and kayaking on an artificial lake of 1,000 m². While most activities are designed for all age groups, the youngest can also have fun in the pool with a series of inflatable objects or a round of mini golf.

A day at Lo Rufete Park may be an experience without too many bells and whistles, but that won't spoil the fun. Anyone who wants to recover from all the efforts in between can go for a picnic, use the barbecues or have a bite to eat in the snack bar. Although the park is a bit remote, the setting is more than offset by panoramic views of pine-covered hills, the blue reservoir, the salt lakes of Torrevieja and La Mata and orange and lemon groves.
